Deployment is the easy half. I've operated enterprise security systems across 11,000 sites in a dozen countries — remote health monitoring, firmware and lifecycle management across tens of thousands of devices, and break/fix delivered through third-party integrators in markets with no local staff. Most deployments are designed without a serious answer to this, and the cost surfaces in year two.
California's SB 553 has been enforceable since July 2024, and Cal/OSHA must adopt a formal general-industry standard by December 2026. Multi-state operators can't assume federal compliance covers them. Plans have to reflect actual site conditions.
